Welcome to 33dsoul.com. This is a small independent research project created a by couple of scientists at Columbia University just for fun.

Initially we are simply gathering various psychometric and demographic data about people and what makes them happy or gives meaning to their life. Please fill out the survey!

The survey is fairly long, but afterwards you can see how you compare to everybody else who has taken it. Our goal is to look at many different lives and note how each person experiences their own happiness, wellbeing, and life satisfaction. We want to identify combinations of traits and life choices which seem to make similar people either happy or unhappy. We hope to provide useful ways for people to interact with and study this data. New features are continually being added to make the analysis more useful and fun, so keep checking back, and retake the survey to track how your own happiness changes over time.

In the long term we hope to refine a predictive model or map to the point that we can compare people to each other and even give a little bit of advice back about how they can become more satisfied with their own lives. We hope that with enough information we can begin to point to small differences that often make one person happier then somebody else who is otherwise very similar in things like personality type, age, income, sex, and education. So in effect we want to say to you, judging by other similar people in your situation, you would probably be happier if you did x instead of y. But that is far down the road.
